Branson

February 27 - March 8, 2009

Saturday night in Toledo, Ohio is like being nowhere at all.
All through the day how the hours rush by, you sit in the park and you watch the grass die.

Ah, but after the sunset, the dusk and the twilight, when shadows of night start to fall.
They roll back the sidewalk precisely at ten and people who live there are not seen again.

So, its actually March 9, 2009 and here we sit in our motel room in Toledo, Ohio, on our way home and of course there's not much happening in Toledo after a 13 hour drive, so I thought that I would catch up my Blog!
Let's talk about our 10 days in Branson.........

Boy has Branson ever changed dramatically since Chris and I were here 6 years ago with Paul & Jean Kennedy!! More shows, but more importantly for Chris, MORE STORES!! Between the Branson Landing which was only conceptual when we were here and several new Big Box Malls and Specialty Shops, the place has grown in leaps and bounds! One of the other advantages that we had was that the shows are just starting back up again, so the place wasn't a gridlock zoo like it can be when all the shows (and crowds) are going full blast.
It will be interesting to see how much the economy affects this town.
When we first got here (in the snow), Chris was looking forward to Branson but said "I don't think that we'll need to come back after this". Within a few days at Big Cedar and looking at this in the forcast (Sunday's Temp) ........

........we decided to cancel the last few days of our trip (Galena/Chicago/Frankenmuth) and decided to stay warm for a few more days instead and booked a last minute timeshare in Branson!

More on Branson...
There was an IHOP just around the corner where we enjoyed a few meals and further toasts!

Dick's 5&10 (est. 1920) is a must see in Branson. A step back to an earlier time that I remember as a kid. I picked up a few packs of Sen-Sen there. They were even selling the leg light from Christmas Story (but at $199, I don't think so!)!! The old downtown has many very interesting stores with lots of character.

We had dinner at the White River Fish House at Branson Landing.

You can probably figure out who owns it by the interesting interior.

If you can't figure it out, here's another hint. An original Bass Tracker is hanging on the wall. This was the best selling boat of all time!

And one more hint....... I got a 15% discount! 8O)

There's been a lot of "Cheers!" on this memorable trip!

Oh yeah, as we were leaving Branson, Chris was saying "Do you think we can come back next spring??
Boy, Branson HAS changed!!
