Views and Vortexs

This is our last day in Sedona. We started it off with a great breakfast at the Coffee Pot. We then went to the Airport Mesa to hike the Coconino trail around the knoll beside the airport.

This is an area that contains one of the strongest vortices in the Sedona area. When you are within the vortex area, the juniper trees become very twisted from the energy in this area.

Its funny, but whenever we've been hiking around these vortex areas, we are not nearly as exerted or tired as we normally would be. For Chris to hike this type of terrain would normally be unthinkable, but she was a real trooper and her legs and feet didn't give her any problems which is just amazing!

We were in this area around 11:00 am. What a great place to pause for a moments silence for our veterans that made the supreme sacrifice so that we can enjoy these kind of freedoms and wonderful moments!

A wild canary!! (actually a yellow sparrow 8O)

Chris slipped getting up from this tranquil spot and ended up with Cactus prickers in her butt and leg!! She had to drop her drawers on the pathway to get them out!! hahahahahahahha!!

We then moved on to the Chapel of the Holy Cross.

The scenery around this area is also spectacular!

We moved on to Bell Rock and did a bit of hiking there as well.
This is also Vortex country.

We then returned to town for lunch at the Heartline Cafe before heading out once again for another hike!!! Our intention was to hike up to the Devil's Bridge, not on it, but at least close enough to get a picture. Reviews said that you should use a 4 wheel drive vehicle with good clearance to get to the starting point of the hike, but if it wasn't wet you could get a normal vehicle to it.......WRONG......we got about half way up the road and it got progressively worse.

All the vehicles coming out (all 4x4's) told us we would bottom out if we continued so we had to call it off. Oh well , next time.

We had to resort to driving the main roads and taking a few more pictures.

We went back into town and paid a quick visit to T'Alapapaque and then one last trip up Old Schnebly Hill for a few sunset shots.

Our Ford Fusion rental that survived the Devil's Bridge Trail.

Here's a better shot of Snoopy Rock!

What a great way to end our week in Sedona!!
One more breakfast at the Coffee Pot, a stop at Jerome and on to Scottsdale!
