Of course TANSTAAFL stands for "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch".
My friends, I'm here today to tell you that is wrong!
Today was an overcast day, threatening rain so we decided to go to the Florida Mall. At lunch time I circled the food court trying to decide what to buy and people from the various fast food booths forced me to try their samples! By the time I got all the way around, I had tried 6 different variations of chicken and some Philly Cheesesteak and was no longer hungry!!
I'd like to take the time to thank the following vendors:
- Chicken Now
- Maki of Japan
- Asian Chao
- Gotta Bar-B-Que
- Grill chicken
- China Max
- Chao Cajun
- Charley's Grilled Subs
It's the least I can do for providing me with a very tasty "free" lunch!
We drove from there to the Disney Marketplace, one of our favorite spots. Of course we had to stop at Ghirardelli for a "free" sample of chocate.
Mmmm, caramel filled samples today!
I wanted to take my hat and coat off and make a second round, but Chris wouldn't let me make an ass out of myself!........Damn!
We then picked up these beautiful and tasty "Diet" Sundaes. Believe me, they weren't free.
We then toured around Downtown Disney before taking the "free" boat ride over to the far end of Pleasure Island. The boat ride was a new discovery.
Cirque de Soleil from the water.
We started a bit of a crawl through Pleasure Island. First stop was The House of Blues where Matt Shenk was playing.
This was a very pleasant surprise. We saw Matt play last year, loved his music and bought his CD.
Here's a bit of Matt:
We sat through a set and a half and then moved down the street to where the Loria Brothers were just starting up. These guys had great harmonies and were great to talk to.
Next we crossed the bridge and noticed that the Mary Poppins Balloon had been grounded all day because of the wind.
This dude really knew how to play, but was a bit of a showboat.
These guys were great and we listened to their whole set.
Next, on to Raglan Road, an Irish Pub and a favorite stop of ours. Their house band CREEL were playing and we caught their last set. It was a great show, lots of Canadians in the crowd, including one of the members of the Rankin Family.
One of their Irish Dancers.
What a great night! Sometimes the unplanned days are the best!

Who the hell is Marty Poppins? Do you do anything else down there except eat? I think you have a new career in the works as a food critic.
Glad you got the Marty Poppins thing straightened out. I doubt food critic would work though unless it's strictly a critique of meat and potatoes.
What might work though is to publish a book on how to fill your vacation itinerary with "free" stuff.
Barry, you mean that there are other foods than Meat and Potatoes???
Stay tuned, more "Free" stuff coming!
Don't forget, I'm in the State of "Fixed Incomes"!!
