Out and About

Today we headed out for Sebring to find the Sebring Diner which was recommended to us by Don & Carol.  We found the Diner with no problem .

Looks like a postcard!

and it did not disappoint.  The place was packed and the food was excellent!!
Chris tried her first Fried Green Tomatoes..

 This Burg was delicious.....

and Carol had recommended the Fruit salad which Chris said was fabulous.

All this and beverages for $17 !!
We were the youngest people in the place.  The further you drive South, the older the average age.
We left the Diner and since we were close I decided to head to Lake Okeechobee, the largest fresh water lake in Florida and the Grand Daddy of Bass Lakes!

Just outside of Sebring I saw a sign for Sebring Speedway, so had to check it out.

The big 12 hour race is coming soon, but they were holding a club race today.  Unfortunately, they wanted $15 (last week's race was free) and we were on a time constraint so passed.  We did drive around the ring road outside the track and could see parts of it.

From there we drove to the town of Okeechobee which is at the North end of the lake.  Unfortunately, I had left my rods back at the trailer.  It would have been nice to take a few casts to say that I had fished Okeechobee!

From there we drove to the East Coast.  Some of the drive was dead flat (and straight)......

Other parts were shrouded by the trees!

We arrived in a beautiful little town of Stuart just South of Port St. Lucie.

They had a nice little village with many boutiques.

We crossed over the bridge into Port St. Lucie and checked out the ocean just as it was starting to approach dusk.

...and stopped for some sugar free ice cream.

We started to head home, but was surprised when I put it into the GPS that we were 2 1/2 hours from home!!  Guess we were heading further south all the time.

Arrived home over 300 miles from when we started, but what a great day!!!
