February

February 2-28, 2015

We started out the month of February with the arrival of Terry and his family.  They had their own unit in North Village.  Here's all the Crazy M&M Kids, Miranda, Maia and Maddy.

We discovered a great wildlife refuge (Circle B Bar Reserve) outside Lakeland with Bob and Linda.

It featured lots of wildlife in their natural state.

Highly recommended.

We enjoyed a couple of great dinners with Linda and Bob at The Alehouse in Lakeland and

We also went with them to see an Eagles Tribute show at the Lakeland Center.

We finally got to rendezvous in Daytona with Dennis and Karen Gobin (from Kamloops) and had a great night at the dog races.  I won $40, but apparently the two of us "broke even" :(

Before we knew it, the kids were heading home. Here's the happy campers here.

Little did they know it that in a few hours their flight would be cancelled and they would end up spending the night in their rental van in order to get the last 4 seats out of Fort Lauderdale!!!   With the start of President's week there wasn't a room to be found.

Presidents week is a gong show at Orange Lake so we had planned to spend the week on the Gulf side and do a little discovering. We headed out to spend a couple of days with Cal and Marcelle.  Cal got a chance to show off his new wheels.

We had a great time and Cal and I continued our domination at Sequence!!
On our way to Cape Coral for a few days we stopped in to see our neighbors, Doug and Carol from home and got a chance to catch up on news.

The first night in Cape Coral we had dinner at the Ford Garage.  Great decor and great food!

We managed to catch the sunset on Fort Myers Beach.

The next day we headed down to Everglades City (not really a city) and took in an Air Boat ride.

Lots of fun!

We stopped in Arcadia on the way back and visited with Lynn's daughter in law Kelley's parents who just bought a modular home there this winter.   Beautiful spot.

We stopped at the Ford Edison winter homes for a tour.  Here's Lynn with Mr Edison in front of some Banyan Trees.

We went to Manatee Park where there were literally hundred of Manatees enjoying the warmer water here.
Also got to check out Naples, Sanibel and Captiva Islands.

We drove to a dirt track outside Tampa to watch our good friends Ted and Diane's    Grandson Dylan race his mini sprint.  It was an outstanding field of mini sprint and super sprints from all over Canada and the U.S.   Looking forward to following him at Oshelweken Speedway this summer.

The last week we had a chance to catch up with a lot of folks. We met Andre and Pearl in Lakeland, halfway between their mobile in Zephyr Hills and Orange Lake.

We stopped in to see Lynn's sister Darlene and Don at their RV site in Lakeland.

We had lunch with Don and Carol Dimitroff and their daughter Julie along with her "little man" Landon at the Alehouse.   So great to see them.

We enjoyed one last dinner at the Alehouse before heading home and finally enjoyed a Captain Jacks!!!

We headed home at 3:00 am on Friday and although we didn't plan it, arrived home at 1:30 Saturday morning.  A long drive and my van flipped over 50,000 MILES!!!  I've only had it for a year and a bit!
We had a great time in Florida and we avoided some real nasty weather at home!!
