Craig Nostalgia Fishing Trip
My Father, who past away in 1952, spent many of his summers fishing in the hamlet of Trent River , predominantly for Muskie.
My brother and my Aunt & Uncle kept the tradition alive by taking me with them throughout my childhood. Many of my fondest childhood memories were of treks to Trent River. We have returned in our adult years with our sons to fish these hallowed waters, but had not done so for a few years. In an attempt to rekindle the flame, my son Paul gave me a free weekend at Trent River as a Christmas gift last year. We set it up for last weekend and my other son Terry along with my brother Bud and his son David joined us to rekindle the memories from years past.
In addition, the cottages (Ward's Cottages) that my son had booked was the last place my Dad had stayed at with the family over 57 years ago. Bud remembered that it was a cold damp week and that we left early, partially because of his 1 year old baby brother (me)!!
Although, we were targetting Musky, we caught a lot of bass and my son Paul caught a Pike that my brother still claims is a Musky! This only goes to prove that he is getting senile.
It was a great weekend and a lot of stories were shared around the fire. Despite the fact that no Musky were caught, it was a great weekend and I can't wait to do it again.
