Big Cedar Lodge

February 27 - March 6, 2009
This has been one of our best timeshare trades. It is rated by TUG as #18 out of over 3000 Timeshares World-wide!!
The pictures don't do it justice. This resort is owned by Johnny Morris, the owner of Bass Pro Shops. It started out as a vacation property for two railroad and real estate tycoons in the 20's. The older buildings on site are the original buildings.

The property is much like a Bass Pro Shop where you are visually overwhelmed. They create the atmosphere immediately on the way in as you have to drive over cobble stone with a brook running through it!

The snow was gone after our second day here and it wasn't long before Chris was soaking up the rays outside our unit.


We went to the Truman House (one of the original buildings) many mornings for coffee and cinnamon buns........


.......and would sit and have it out by one of the pools. That's the Bent Hook Marina behind me.


Of course there was always time for a siesta!

There were probably 30 cottages like these on the far shore and throughout the complex. Absolutely stunning interiors.


The Bent Hook Marina floats over about 30 feet of water and this opening in the middle of the store attracts many fish (which are fed by customers).

We spent one night in the Buzzard's Bar below one of the restaurants.


And were entertained by Clay Self who has been playing here for 20 years.


He was part comedian/redneck/musician who specialized in playing "Lyin', cryin' 8 track songs with lots of interaction with the audience. One of the tables made the mistake of saying that they had eaten "Upstairs" (fine dining). Clay was quick to point out that there were only two kinds of people, "Upstairs People" and "Downstairs People" and we was "Downstairs People" (to great cheers!)

Even the garbage cans are done over the top!!


Just a Great Resort and we will be back!
