We were all over the place today. Went to look for a Flea Market that was supposed to be better than Webster. The only directions I had was to drive down 27, turn right on 92 and drive till you see a sign that says "Lakeland - 9 Miles". Sure enough there it was. It was a good Flea Market, but not as many vendors on a Friday as on the weekend.
This was an interesting item. Barry, have you ever seen one?
One of the big features was their live alligator exhibit, a caged area where for a dollar you could could feed the alligators a piece of hot dog attached to a rope on a stick. There was a ton of alligators.
I think I prefer to see them in the wild. Even Swamp Hunters seems more humane.
From there we decided to check out Lake Wales. I had my GPS set to not take any big highways which resulted in a much more leisurely drive. Lake Wales was an interesting small town that looked like it had seen. better days.
This old Grand Hotel is the main feature. It has been closed for 10 years, but you could hear them sandblasting inside as someone is in the process of revitalizing it into Condos and Business units. I wish them luck. It could be very cool once they finish it.
We then stopped at the visitor center for Florida's Natural Brand Orange Juice? They didn't offer tours but had an interesting display and history and offered samples of their various products.
After that it was across country again to hit a few stores in Lakeland before they closed and then back on I4 to return home.
123 miles and a very enjoyable day.
