Happy Leap Day!

Well what did you do to celebrate Leap Day???
Disney's Magic Kingdom was celebrating Leap Day with the first ever "One More  Disney Day", the first time that they had ever kept the park open for 24 hours straight!.......... so why not???

Now let me clarify, we didn't actually spend 24 hours there (although many younger folk did).  The park opened at 6:00 am Tuesday morning and didn't close until 6:00 am Wednesday morning.  We went down around 3:00 pm figuring most of the kids would out of there by then or soon after.  That was mostly right.

Believe it or not, this was the first time we've actually been to a Disney Park in at least two years!

The first thing we noticed once we got in the park was the Kodak Theater.  We've been in there before and they used to have a neat little video on Walt.  We entered this time and there were two lines, one said "Mickey" and one said "Princesses".  We figured we'd rather watch something about Mickey so got in that line.  Once it was too late, we finally realized what it was all about!  Here's the result.  hahahahahaha!

Mickey must have made a real quick wardrobe change as once we got out we encountered this parade.  It went all the way up Main Street USA and ended up by the Castle.  They had all the kids (and many adults) dancing in the streets and working up a sweat.

We visited many of our favourite stops including Pirates of the Caribbean. We debated Splash Mountain but it was getting dark and there was a real possibility of getting wet. I still remember my wet ass from taking the Sea Ray over at Downtown Disney!!!
Unfortunately, Thunder Mountain was closed.
We managed to take in the Bear Jamboree my favourite show!

And featuring the ever popular "Big Al"

Love this shot of the Castle.

They have a light show with the Castle 15 minutes before the fireworks (Memories, Magic and Me) and it is absolutely fantastic.  If you're ever here you definitely do not want to miss it (are you listening Judy).  Almost worth the price of admission alone.

Check out this video on a portion of the Castle Light Show.

The Fireworks followed right after the Memories show.  We have the luxury of watching these every night when we're in our unit at Orange Lake, but seeing it "on site" with the music that accompanies it is truly amazing!!!
I managed to capture the entire 12 minute show.  Definitely worth watching.

After the Fireworks, we went over to Tomorrow Land, road the Wegway, did the Progress in Motion (first presented at the 1964 World's Fair and still a neat attraction).  I thought that the crowds would thin after the Fireworks, but they continued to grow as more teenagers and young adults arrived for the balance of the night (many of them wearing Mickey Mouse pajamas 8O).

We went over and went on "It's a Small World".  Always an emotional ride as this was my Mother's favourite ride when she was here.  Kind of neat as these boatloads of teens traveled along, belting out the song.

Stayed and watched the Disney Electrical Parade.  Done up only as Disney can do it.

After the parade we went back to Adventureland and visited the Hall of Presidents and then stopped for a coffee.  Probably took 30 minutes to get the coffee.  How do you like the shirt that I bought??

After finishing coffee we checked a few rides but there was a 30-45 minute wait....... at 1:30 in the morning!!!,  so we decided to depart and leave the balance of the night to the younger folks.

Something to be said about wearing a t-shirt at 1:30 in the morning at this time of year!!
Thanks for the great day Walt!!
