Bud and Doc joined me on Wednesday for the first of what I hope are many TMA's (Tromper Mini Adventures). The goal today was a bike ride from my place to Waterford and back (50+km) on the TH&B & LE&N rail trails.
Things started off well with everyone riding aggressively towards the goal!
We made a brief photo stop at Willow Lake (an old TH&B quarry) near Scotland.
The big question was whether "bike butt" would set in before our return trip.
We were temporarily held up by "Techno Weenie" Doc having to stop to conduct business from his new office on the trail!
You could almost hear the old locomotives chugging down the tracks.
We made a brief photo stop at Willow Lake (an old TH&B quarry) near Scotland.
We stopped for lunch at the St James St Eatery in Waterford and had a great lunch.
The Restaurant (a converted garage) was opened two years ago by Kerry, who was nominated for Entrepeneur of the year.
Well done Kerry. I'll be back.
Everything was A-Okay in that department, but about 5 km into the return ride Bud's thighs started burning. We decided to terminate the ride. Doc ended up riding back to my place to get Bud's van and pick us up in Scotland.
It was Lynn's son Dion who spotted us sitting there from the highway!! We should have taken up his offer to take us home. I would have loved to see Doc's face as he pulled up to my place with Bud and I parked there on our bikes!!
Doc finally managed to navigate back to Scotland (not without a few phone calls :)
Bud and I did 40 km. Not bad for a 77 year old.
A great day!
