The Hankinson House is the new hospice that is opening in Brantford later this month. It replaces the Stedman House that will now be used for other needed services (day care etc). It's an amazing 2 story facility that will have 10 beds and also house all the OutReach staff.
This week they were hosting the Executive Directors from all over Ontario for 3 days of meetings. Brantford's Hospice and Out Reach programs set the bar that everyone else strives to attain.
Lynn volunteered to prepare 3 meals a day for 3 days for the 28 attendees. It was a major undertaking that actually started the day before, traveling around buying all the necessary food.
She was helped by her sister Darlene and a volunteer that she had requested I helped out where I could (setting tables, washing dishes :)
Here's part of one of the dinners that they prepared. It was the first time that the new kitchen had been used.
Tables were set up in one of the very large family rooms that are provided.
Dinner about to be served!
Everyone got a lunch for the road on the last day.
By the end of the third day she was exhausted. Up at 5:00 am and not home till 8:00 pm the first two nights.
It was very gratifying to see the appreciation everyone had. Her old staff were glad to have her around and wanted her to come back full time......
..........Not a Chance!!!!! :)
