Diamond Head!

Thursday, April 2, 2015

Today was another big day as Moe and I left the resort by 7:00 am to take the bus to the base of Diamond Head to hike to the top.  Thinking of my Tromper Buddies today.
We started at the back of Diamond Head.

We had to hike up this hill......

.....and through this tunnel to get to the inside of the crater and the beginning of the State Park.

The path started as a concrete sidewalk......

.....but quickly declined to a rocky path.

You can see a number of the switchbacks above us.

Getting closer......,,,

What a view as we approached the top.

More stairs to climb!  Ugh.

But the view is amazing.

Here Moe is pointing out the rim of the crater which is visible.

You can see how houses occupy all the hills around the fringe.

Finally a view of Waikiki

We did it!!!

Looking towards where we got married on Tuesday.

The lighthouse below.

We returned to the bottom and took a cab back to our resort.

Next stop, the Ocean!!!

I had never swam in salt water.

A great shot of all of us with Diamond Head in the background.

We walked downtown for the Hawaian Show on the beach.   We've been walking at least 10,000 steps a day.  Today Moe and I were in excess of 20,000.

Joanne caught us taking a selfie.

Here's the result.

We then walked down to the Marriott to see some of the folks that we saw at Dukes before we did the cruise.

Our last full day in this Island Paradise!
