First of all, Happy Birthday to my sweetie Lynn today (39 and counting).
This is the view we woke up to this morning!!! The picture doesn't do the colours justice.
We walked down to the corner and picked up some McDonalds and took it to the tables by the beach to enjoy. Weather is amazing, mid 70s and no humidity.
We walked along Kalakua Ave. by the beach and took in all the atmosphere. At night time it's like a little Times Square, only kinder and gentler.
Here we are at one of the Outrigger Hotels.
This store had amazing ukuleles, many priced between $1,000 - $8,000.
Diamond Head in the background.
This is the Royal Hawaian, one of the two original Hotels from the early 1900's.
We walked back to our hotel and enjoyed a swim in the 10th story swimming pool followed by a short nap.
The view of the mountains behind our Hotel.
We walked down the street to have dinner at Dukes (remember the surfer statue?). The view was beautiful.
Dinner featured an all you can eat salad bar that was great. This has to be one of the best tasting meals I have ever had!!!!
We were serenaded by these 3 wonderful people. They sang happy Birthday to the birthday girl!
One song they played was called Hukilau. The two ladies were the first to record it in the 40's when the one was 13. They are 83 and 88 now!!!!!!
I downloaded the original song off iTunes!! Unbelievable.
The bass player's name is Alan Akaka and Wikipedia lists him as one of the best Hawaiian Steel guitar players in the world.
We all walked over 8 miles.
What a magical day!!!
