Monday, April 8, 2013

We finally got together for the 38rh Annual Invitational Bass Classic Banquet and Gala Event.
This was supposed to take place last Wednesday, but was rescheduled because of the ice storm. It was great to see many of the guys that will be going this year.

Left to Right: Scooter, Dell, Willy, Orca, MAC, Dorsal, Bear and Moe.

There was lots to discuss, especially given the fact that we are relocating to new cottages this year (Hidden Cove Cottages).
The countdown is now officially on!
Can't wait!!!

Musky Odyssey and Kerosene Creek

Saturday, April 13, 2013

Every two years Muskies Canada puts on an amazing presentation in St Catharines called Musky Odyssey. Great seminars, lots of musky dealers and amazing door prizes!!

One of the first people I ran into was this guy..........

He looked familiar.  His first name is Gary (don't remember his last name) and he bought HawgBuster 2 (my old 14 foot boat with a 25 HP Johnson) about 8 years ago. He did an amazing job upgrading it and told me it was still in good shape and now keeps it on Chemung Lake. We had a great chat.

Finally caught up with my Bass Pro buddies that were there and we took in some excellent seminars. Here's Jim Saric from Musky Hunter TV show.  All the seminars were very informative.

I always do well at their prize tables and this year was no exception!  I spent $40 in prize tickets and ended up with a $20 Bulldawg bait and a $150 Musky Rod!!
Yeah baby!!

Here's my old co-workers and good friends Jay and Mike.

After the show we met up with Big Bird (Bernie Zweerman) who still works at BPS and drove down after his shift to join is.

We went to Kelsey's and had an excellent dinner and got a good chance to catch up on events in each of our lives and to discuss a Fall Musky Trip. Stay tuned for that one.

The boys returned home to Brampton and new Market.
But my night was far from over!!
I returned home for a quick nap before Moe picked me up to go and see his brother John's band Kerosene Creek play in Niagara Falls.

The band was great as expected.

I also had the pleasure of meeting several members of their family.
Thanks for the introduction Moe!!

Great music Twanger!

A great way to end the night!

Big MAC

Friday, April 12, 2013

Paid a visit to the optometrist today to check on my eye that had cataract surgery last December and to get a new prescription since that eye is now almost 20/20. He said it was 20/20, but then said it needed a "small" prescription ........ So I guess it's not really 20/20!!!!!

Tried on a nice pair of Maui Jim's for fishing, that they can now do a progressive bifocal on the curved lens as well as the fact that they can now be polarized.  Could be mine for only $850!!
Great price for glasses that I would pretty much only use for fishing......NOT!
I would also need to have a new lens made for my other eye after I get it done this fall/winter for only another $350!!  Are you laughing yet?

After that I stopped in to see my good friend MAC ...... Steve Macanowicz.  Stevie recently had successful surgery for an aneurism on the main artery that goes to the lungs.

He now has a "zipper" ........and a second belly button :). He looked great and so did his good wife Chris.
We had a real good chat while we caught up on all the happenings including their daughter's wedding.

Stevie has a "little red friend" that he carries around with him. He still needs to ride in the back seat with his little red friend for awhile until everything heals a little better.
The great news is that he will be going on our Bass Fishing trip in June!

Ice Storm!!

Thursday, April 11, 2013

So when I was taking the canopies down in the backyard last year I ripped one of them. Rona had the identical ones on sale last weekend, so I picked up 2 new ones. I put the new ones up last weekend and kept the old one for a spare.

A little early, but I checked the forecast and it looked like it was going to be okay....... And then came today.
You can see in this view of the escarpment how close we got to getting ice. It started half way up the hill!!
I thought I was going to have to stay up all night to keep the ice off the tarps.

Dodged a bullet!

Maddy's Day

Wednesday, April 10,2013

Picked up Maddy today and we went to Harmony Jewellers to get her ring from Nana resized.
This was a ring that I gave Chris when Terry was born. At the same time I needed my necklace repaired that holds our wedding rings.
Once we were done there we went for a "Date" to Swiss Chalet.......

...........and then on the way home drove along the lake and observed the outlet for Forty Creek. You can see the boat launch on the right and the sandbar blocking access to the lake on the left.

Maddy has been dabbling in art recently and gave me this very special picture of a leopard resting in a tree.

A great day with a very special young lady !

Gas

Tuesday, April 9, 2013

I picked Miranda after track today to drive her home. I needed gas and figured it was a good time to get her used to pumping gas seeing she will be "16" next year and plans on learning to drive.
She did a great job and I think it also drove home that the cost of driving around is not free!!......especially these days.

Great job Panda!!

Joe Feta's

Sunday, April 7, 2013

Went down to Joe Feta's in St. Catharines for dinner with Terry and Mandy.

Great food and a good time!

Trivia Question??
They served coffee in this container.  What restaurant used to do that as well?
If you remember, let me know!

Finished up with a few DVD purchases across the street at That's Entertainment.
Another great night!

Memphis Fire Grill

Saturday, April 6, 2013

Paul and Evan came down today with all the stuff from the trailer that he's been storing in his garage over the winter. We put all of that in the garage for sorting and storing later. He also brought down his snowmobile sled for storage at good old cousin Dave's!!
After we were done we went down to the Memphis Fire Grill for some very tasty and plentiful food.

Great grub!
Great visit!!

Credit Valley Railroad Company & Peach Kings

Thursday, April 4, 2013

I've been meaning to get to the Credit Valley Railroad Company in Mississauga to visit my old workmate and fishing buddy Roger KILLER Chrysler. He is now being paid to perform his passion for model railroads.
The outside of the store.......

Wait a minute!!!......... Is that who I think it is outside the store!!!.........

Yes, it is!! ......... my old buddy from the past, Frank "The Champ" Morley (appropriately dressed with his 3 Stooges hat)!!!
I contacted him late last night to see if he was available for a road trip and he was "IN".

We had a great chat with Killer Chrysler and were extremely impressed with the layout he's put together.

We hung out for awhile and then stopped at Wendy's on the way home for a bite. Bud put me on to Senior coffees at McDonalds, but Francis introduced me to FREE Senior coffees at Wendy's!! In fact Frank had two of them to double his savings!

It was great to see him and catch up on events.

I was only home for a few minutes and then joined my nephew David to watch the Grimsby Peach Kings who are in the Junior "C" Schmaultz Cup Semi-finals.

This is Pogger's old team.

Unfortunately they lost 3-2 tonight to fall behind 2 games to none.
Had a great visit with David though.

Kind of interesting to see David and Frank in the same blog post!

Panda & The FishGuts

Wednesday, April 3, 2013

I picked up Miranda from school today after Track and Field. We enjoyed a nice dinner at the Relay Truck Stop in Beamsville. She had never been there before. I thought it would be appropriate to sit beside the Pink Pedal car.

After I dropped her off at home I came back to the condo to prep for FishGuts night. Everyone was in attendance with Bud recently returning from Florida and Barry preparing for his trip to Portugal and Spain.

We did pick up the instruments, but would have sounded much better if everyone would have paid attention to the music instead of the baseball game 8O)

Still a fun night as always.
